The Next New Oscar Category Should Be. . .

 

Next year, the Oscars will introduce a 'Best Casting' category, and it's about time. As someone who’s been performing in theatre for the past year and professionally reviewing movies for over a decade, I know firsthand how crucial casting directors are in making a production connect with audiences. The right actor in the right role can elevate a film, turning a solid story into something unforgettable. 

I'm thrilled to see the Academy recognizing that vital contribution. But... at this point, still not having a 'Best Stunt' category feels like the Academy is just trolling, right? 

Stunt performers risk life and limb to create jaw-dropping moments that define action films, yet they continue to be overlooked. The Oscars took a step forward but now let’s hope they don’t stop there.

A stunt category is many decades overdue and allows some of the most talented and gifted performers in movies to finally get recognized.
