Today should mark the ninth episode of The Movie Breakdown podcast for the year. I've only posted two. By now, I should have published at least nine reviews of new releases. I have none. You should have read a serialized short story or seen my reviews of MCU and Disney movies, but they don't exist either.
Neither does a consistent stream of well-paying clients. Neither does a sense that I have control over my life or that I'm finding balance in my mental health.
But here’s what does exist: I have two amazing kids who make me laugh, challenge me, and fill my life with joy. I have a loving wife who continues to stand by me even in my struggles. I have friends who have shown me empathy and support when I’ve needed it most. I have editors and clients who have expressed interest in my work. Some offers have been lower than I’d hoped, but they have potential to become something more.
I haven’t achieved what I planned by this point in the year, but that doesn’t mean I’ve failed. Progress isn’t always measured in output but sometimes it's just finding the strength to keep going.
Things will get better.
The best is yet to come.

I am a writer, so I write. When I am not writing, I will eat candy, drink beer, and destroy small villages.
