If I am Being Honest. . .

 

My ideal 2025 would see my career almost entirely devoted to pop culture writing and movie reviews with ample free time working on fiction. This is the dream scenario for my writing career followed by novel writing becoming the focal point. But when I was landing substantial work writing about TV and movies for several years, I went all in and mostly dropped my ad copy clients. It was the rolling boulder that flattened me and made me vulnerable to the economic devastation of COVID-19 that I am still recovering from. Unless I have regular contract-signed in blood work for film criticism and pop culture writing or I'm making several thousand dollars a month on the site and podcast, the smart move is to lean into ad copy as my main job and all the joys of movie and pop culture writing remain my side gig.
