This year alone, I immensely enjoyed several works of fiction that a year ago I completely dismissed as awful when I first heard the concept. A movie about Lego blocks sounded like a feature-length ad and I wasn't convinced Fargo was the movie ripest for a TV series adaptation, yet both have turned out to be some of the best entertainment of the year. It is just proof that a work can't be dismissed based off the initial concept and it has to be given a chance to prove itself. In today's Collective Publishing pop culture article, I look at three beloved classics that initially almost everything pegged to be flops.

I am a writer, so I write. When I am not writing, I will eat candy, drink beer, and destroy small villages.
